On the 30th anniversary of the Mussoorie firing incident, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid homage to the martyred agitators at the Shaheed Smarak in Mussoorie. Addressing the gathering, Dhami reaffirmed the state government's commitment to fulfilling the dreams of those who sacrificed their lives for Uttarakhand.

'The state government is working to achieve the aspirations envisioned by the martyred agitators for Uttarakhand. The Khatima incident occurred on September 1, followed by Mussoorie on September 2, and the Rampur Tiraha incident on October 2. These dates remain a dark chapter in our state's history, and we can never forget the ultimate sacrifice of our immortal martyrs,' he stated. Dhami further added that these agitators aspired for an Uttarakhand where everyone enjoys equal rights, and the state government is progressing with this objective in mind.

Dhami highlighted that Uttarakhand recently secured the top position in the Niti Aayog's Sustainable Development Goals ranking, signifying balanced progress in development and environmental preservation. 'To make this decade the decade of Uttarakhand, we are advancing rapidly across all sectors. Over the next ten years, Uttarakhand aims to be at the pinnacle of development, achieved through a harmony of ecology and economy,' he said.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the state's gratitude to the agitators by implementing a 10 per cent horizontal reservation for them and their dependents, along with providing pensions. Women's significant role in the state movement was acknowledged with the announcement of a 30 per cent reservation for women in government services.

Moreover, Dhami outlined strict new laws against exam malpractices, forced conversions, and anti-riot measures, along with actions to curb 'land jihad.' Over 16,000 appointments have been made in government departments over the past three years. He promised to establish a museum at the Shaheed Smarak to honor the martyrs.
