Amidst relentless rains and ensuing floods in Andhra Pradesh, Indian Naval Aircraft, Flood Relief Teams (FRTs), and diving teams from Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam, have been dispatched to support Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations. Deployed assets include four helicopters—two Advanced Light Helicopters and two Chetaks—alongside one Dornier aircraft, securing Search and Rescue (SAR) coverage. To date, 22 stranded individuals have been saved, and over 1000 kg of food has been airdropped for the flood victims.

Earlier, A Sravani, a scientist from Hyderabad's Meteorological Centre, confirmed that Krishna district received 27 cm of rain, leading to severe flooding. She explained that a low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal on August 30 and became a well-marked low-pressure area by August 31, eventually evolving into a depression by midnight. This meteorological activity resulted in the deluge in the region.

In response, 10 Flood Relief Teams have been deployed to fortify rescue efforts. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team, in collaboration with Central forces and district officials, has been distributing food, drinking water, and essentials in Vijayawada using helicopters. Additional naval assets and rescue teams are on standby, prepared to extend further aid.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu conducted a review session on Monday at the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority office, prioritizing the protection of lives and property. Flooding has submerged several low-lying areas including Singhnagar and Nandamuri Nagar, displacing nearly two lakh residents to the tops of their buildings. Naidu visited the affected areas to oversee relief efforts, stating on social media platform X that public safety remains paramount and that measures are being expedited to assist those impacted. He encouraged residents to stay brave amid the ongoing crisis.
