A 12th-grade student, Aryan Mishra, was shot and killed by cow vigilantes in Faridabad, Haryana, on Tuesday over suspicions of cow smuggling. Police identified and arrested five individuals linked to the incident.

The police reported that the incident occurred on August 23 when the accused mistakenly chased Aryan's car for 25 kilometers, believing it to be involved in cow smuggling. Multiple shots were fired, and Aryan, struck in the chest, succumbed to his injuries the following day despite urgent medical attention.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Crime, Faridabad, Aman Yadav disclosed that an FIR was registered, and the suspects — Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh, and Saurav — were apprehended by the crime branch. Recovered items include the vehicle and weapon used. ACP Yadav stated that further investigations are ongoing and confirmed no prior connection between the accused and the victim.

The victim's father, Siyanand Mishra, expressed profound grief and condemned the authorities for failing to prevent such violence. He questioned the legitimacy of acting on mere suspicion, demanding answers from the government.
