Maharashtra Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar criticized Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday for his visit to flood-affected areas in Andhra Pradesh while ignoring similar devastation in Maharashtra.

Heavy rains have caused substantial crop loss in Maharashtra, similar to the damage seen in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Wadettiwar noted. Despite this, no financial assistance has been sanctioned for Maharashtra, he said, contrasting it with the Rs 3,448 crore aid announced for other states.

Wadettiwar also attacked state agriculture minister Dhananjay Munde for being indifferent to the crisis. He emphasized the urgent need for the Shinde government to secure the pending Rs 2,800 crore Central assistance for distressed farmers.
