In a significant event, twenty distinguished individuals, including ten former bureaucrats and five ex-servicemen, officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday. The joining ceremony was graced by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, who welcomed them with enthusiasm.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister Puri expressed his joy at the induction of highly respected retired civil servants, including former generals of the armed forces, chief commissioners of Income Tax, members of the Board of Direct Taxes, and retired ambassadors. He noted that their decision to join the BJP signifies their belief in the party's vision for the nation.
Among the notable names was former diplomat Bhaswati Mukherjee, currently President of the India Habitat Centre, who vocalized her support for BJP's foreign policy. "We need a strong PM and party to confront external threats. My agenda is to serve the nation under BJP," Mukherjee stated. Other significant figures included former ambassadors, former high-ranking tax officials, and major generals. The membership drive, which began on September 2 and runs until October 15, is notably being conducted through a digital app for the first time.
