Former Delhi Minister, Sandeep Kumar, criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after the Rouse Avenue Court acquitted him in an alleged rape case on Wednesday. Kumar, who won the 2015 MLA elections and once served as the youngest minister in the Delhi cabinet, claimed the case was part of a conspiracy by his political opponents.
Kumar thanked the Rouse Avenue Court and the Indian Constitution for the acquittal, while questioning AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal about their current stance on the matter. He emphasized that Dalits and those from backward sections of society have to struggle for justice, contrasting it with the perceived innocence of AAP leaders in jail.
As a former minister responsible for women and child development, social welfare, and SC/ST portfolios, Kumar was disqualified from the Delhi Assembly in 2019 under the anti-defection law. He was previously suspended by AAP in 2016 due to a controversial 'objectionable CD' scandal. Kumar recently petitioned for Arvind Kejriwal's removal as Chief Minister, citing Kejriwal's incapacity to perform his duties due to his imprisonment.
