Congress Unveils Seven Guarantees for Haryana Assembly Elections

The Congress announced seven key promises, including the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, job creation, and free medical treatment, for the Haryana assembly elections. Party leaders assured voters of delivering these commitments if elected, aiming to revive the state's prosperity.

The Congress on Wednesday unveiled seven significant guarantees as part of its election manifesto for the Haryana assembly polls, pledging the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, creation of two lakh jobs, a caste survey, 300 units of free power, and free medical treatment up to Rs 25 lakh.

Addressing the announcement, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the guarantees would benefit women, social security, youth, the poor, and farmers. Senior leaders including general secretary KC Venugopal, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan were present during the declaration.

Kharge highlighted the party's promise of Rs 2000 per month for women above 18 years and gas cylinders at Rs 500. To bolster social security, pensions for old age, disability, and widows would be set at Rs 6,000. Despite the Centre's Unified Pension Scheme, Congress commits to reinstating the Old Pension Scheme, providing 2 lakh jobs, and creating a drug-free Haryana.

Under the promise of "happiness to every family," Congress guarantees 300 units of free electricity and up to Rs 25 lakh in free medical treatments. Farmers are assured a legal guarantee of minimum support prices and immediate crop loss compensations.

For the poor, the party pledges a 'Rs 10 gaz plot' and a two-room flat at Rs 3.5 lakh. Additionally, a caste survey and increasing the creamy layer limit to Rs 10 lakh were promised to support backward communities.

Kharge expressed confidence in securing a win in the Haryana polls slated for October 5, criticizing the BJP for allegedly ruining the state's prosperity. Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan also affirmed the party's commitment to restoring Haryana's number one status.

The voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will take place on October 5, with results announced on October 8 alongside those for Jammu and Kashmir.
