Himachal Pradesh Implements New Regulations for Eateries to Ensure Internal Security

Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh announced mandatory display of owners’ names at eateries to enhance the state's internal security. The move addresses concerns ranging from law and order to hygiene, with an all-party committee overseeing the implementation. Court-backed town vending committees will aid in organized urban vending.

In a bid to bolster internal security, Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh announced mandatory display of owners’ names at eateries. This decision, revealed on Thursday, aims to maintain peace and address various security concerns that have emerged recently.

Minister Vikramaditya Singh emphasized that while shops generally display their registration details, this additional measure is crucial for internal security. “An all-party committee has been established to scrutinize every aspect. There can be no compromise when it comes to internal security,” Singh remarked.

The minister highlighted recent directives from the high court to form town vending committees under municipal limits for systematic organization of vending zones. “We welcome outsiders to Himachal Pradesh, but it’s vital to keep a check on drug menace, law and order, and hygiene issues in eateries,” he said. Singh also noted that vendor identification will be required, irrespective of domicile status, to address security concerns.

Rajeev Shukla, Himachal Pradesh AICC-in-charge, defended the state’s order, emphasizing its focus on authorized shop setups and not on parallels with other states. “An all-party committee formed by the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker will regulate hawkers and issue licenses accordingly,” Shukla affirmed.
