A tragic incident unfolded near Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary on Sunday when a bike rider lost his life following an attack by a rhino, according to officials. The deceased, identified as Saddam Hussain, 37, hailed from Sonapur Kachutali in the Kamrup (Metro) district.

Reports indicate that the rhino had strayed out of the sanctuary and attacked Hussain near Haduk Bridge as he rode his motorcycle from Mayong to Chamata. Nayan Jyoti Das, the Forest Range Officer at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, confirmed the fatal incident. "The rhino came out of the wildlife sanctuary. We are investigating the incident," Das told ANI over a phone call.

This is not an isolated case of human-wildlife conflict. On September 27, animal attacks in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, injured four people, including three children. A minor girl and a man were attacked by a leopard near Katarniaghat, and two other incidents, suspected to be wolf attacks, were reported. Katarniaghat Divisional Forest Officer Shiv Shankar confirmed the leopard attack, which left a 13-year-old girl and a 35-year-old man injured.
