In a powerful assertion of India's expanding influence in the global healthcare sector, Union Minister Jitendra Singh highlighted the nation's burgeoning medical tourism and biotechnology industries at the CII 6th Pharma and Life Sciences Summit 2024. He emphasized that these sectors have become significant contributors to India’s revenue.

The minister detailed a remarkable growth trajectory, citing the increase in biotech startups from a mere 50 in 2014 to over 5,000 today, urging for enhanced collaboration between public and private sectors to support further innovation. Singh also called for a robust research ecosystem to position biotechnology as central to the next industrial revolution.

Other officials, including Dr. Arunish Chawla and Dr. Rajesh S. Gokhale, emphasized India's strides in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, reinforcing its commitment to becoming a global pharmacy leader. Collaborative efforts and regulatory improvements were noted as essential to sustaining the momentum in healthcare advancements.
