Delhi Cyber Police Busts Nationwide Online Investment Scam

The Delhi Cyber Police successfully apprehended four individuals allegedly involved in orchestrating an online investment scam that defrauded numerous individuals nationwide. The arrested suspects were responsible for facilitating bank accounts crucial to executing fraudulent schemes across various states.
In an official statement, authorities highlighted receiving 72 related complaints, including a significant case from Arjun Sethi, who suffered a financial loss of approximately Rs 42 lakhs. The complaint was registered on the Ministry of Home Affairs' NCRP portal following a new wave of online investment fraud.
A swift operation by the Delhi Cyber Crime Cell, South West District, led to the arrest of the suspects - Chetan Singh Ranawat, Nikunj Ashvinbhai Makvana, Aditya Sonkar, and Sumit Shaw - hailing from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and West Bengal. Through detailed analysis of the money trails and technical data, it was revealed that Sethi's funds were distributed across eleven accounts. Investigative raids followed in Surat, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata, where critical evidence was seized, linking the bank accounts and mule operations to the suspects.
The investigation highlighted the opening of multiple accounts for sale to fraudsters. As the probe deepens, the authorities warn the public against the pitfalls of online investment schemes, urging vigilance in financial dealings online.
