In a significant move towards urban development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed satisfaction over his progress in Varanasi, reiterating his dream of transforming Kashi into a model city where tradition and modernity coexist. During his recent visit, Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several pivotal projects worth over Rs 6,100 crore, including airport expansions.
Highlighting the city's evolving identity, Modi noted the combined presence of the grand Vishwanath Temple, the Rudraksh Convention Center, and modern infrastructures like Ring Roads and stadiums. He praised the development of a new railroad bridge, a six-lane highway, and additional railway lines across the River Ganga, projected to immensely benefit local residents and businesses.
Modi underscored sports and youth empowerment in Varanasi, lauding facilities like the revamped Sigra Stadium, which now supports training for competitions up to the Olympics. He also recognized the cultural importance of Sarnath and enhancements to its tourist appeal. The Prime Minister remains focused on infrastructural progress, women's empowerment through schemes such as Mudra Yojna, and ensuring every household benefits from modern amenities.
