As the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) - UDAN celebrates its eighth anniversary, notable strides have been highlighted by Asangba Chuba Ao, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Since its launch in 2016, UDAN has facilitated affordable air travel for approximately 1.44 crore passengers, operating across 601 routes.

Marking this milestone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated new airports and laid the foundation for additional projects in Varanasi. These initiatives include developments in places like Saharanpur, Rewa, and Ambikapur. Key airports in Agra and Darbhanga, originally launched under the UDAN scheme, were part of the foundation stone-laying ceremony.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the transformative impact of these projects, worth over Rs 6,100 crore, during his visit to Varanasi. He underscored the broad scope of these developments, which span various sectors including education, health, and tourism, promising enhanced facilities and increased employment opportunities for the region's youth.
