Over 150 individuals sustained injuries, with eight hospitalized, following a fireworks accident during the Kaliyattam festival at the Veerarkavu Temple in Kerala's Kasargod district. The incident has drawn attention from political leaders and raised concerns over government vigilance.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed her deep distress on social media, urging Congress workers to support relief efforts. Meanwhile, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari criticized the government's lack of preventive measures, labeling it a significant negligence.
The incident, which took place at around 12:30 am, has led to investigations, with a case registered against eight temple committee members for conducting unauthorized fireworks. Dr. Jinesh Veetilakath from Aster MIMS confirmed the stabilization of 30 patients admitted to the hospital.
