Tragedy Strikes in Villa Gesell: Hotel Collapse
A tragic hotel collapse in Villa Gesell, Argentina has trapped several people. Rescue efforts are underway as authorities investigate the lack of municipal permits at the site. The municipality previously halted construction work in August, raising questions about ongoing operations.
A 10-story hotel building collapsed early Tuesday in Villa Gesell, a coastal city in Argentina's Buenos Aires province. Local municipal officials confirmed the incident with a harrowing account of the collapse.
According to municipal sources, between seven and nine individuals were trapped in the debris, including workers from an allegedly unauthorized construction site within the Dubrovnik hotel premises. Rescue teams are now diligently working to clear the wreckage and save those trapped.
The Villa Gesell authorities also revealed that construction activities at the site had been halted as early as August, owing to a lack of appropriate municipal permits. The incident has sparked a flurry of questions about why construction continued unabated.
