Tripura's DA Boost: A Financial Lifeline Amid Fiscal Challenges

Tripura cabinet approved a 5% DA hike for state employees and pensioners, despite tight fiscal constraints. This decision benefits around 2 lakh individuals and aligns state allowances closer to central government levels. Additional fund allocations were made for Tripura State Rifles, including allowances and infrastructure upgrades.

The Tripura cabinet has sanctioned a 5% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners, effective November 1st, according to Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.

This hike, despite challenging fiscal conditions, brings the total DA to 30%, benefiting approximately 2 lakh employees and pensioners. The state government will shoulder an additional Rs 500 crore annually to support this increment.

The cabinet also endorsed increasing allowances for the Tripura State Rifles, doubling ration allowances, and raising uniform grants. Additionally, funds were allocated for TSR posts repairs, setting up gymnasiums, and offering long-awaited ad-hoc promotions to 240 personnel.
