Sajjan Kumar Convicted in 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots Case

Former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar has been convicted by a Delhi court for his involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The court found Kumar guilty in connection with the murder of a father-son duo during the riots. Kumar is already serving a life sentence in another related case.

In a significant development, former Congress Member of Parliament Sajjan Kumar was convicted by the Rouse Avenue court for his role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, which led to the deaths of countless individuals, including a father-son pair in Saraswati Vihar.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja declared the verdict as Kumar appeared physically in court. The judgement followed extensive submissions from both sides, as the court previously reserved the order on January 31, after additional arguments by Public Prosecutor Manish Rawat were considered.

The conviction adds to Kumar's legal woes as he already serves a life sentence for another riots-related case from the Delhi Cantt. area. The court proceedings delved into allegations of manipulated investigations by police, emphasizing the genocide-like nature of the 1984 violence.
