Assam Rifles and Indian Army Intensify Crackdown in Manipur

Assam Rifles and the Indian Army have captured six militants from banned groups and destroyed extensive poppy fields in Manipur over coordinated operations, showcasing their commitment to dismantling militant and illicit drug activities in the region.

In a heightened campaign against militancy, the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army, in joint operations with local police, apprehended six militants from outlawed groups in Manipur. These operations took place on Wednesday in Imphal's east and west districts, as part of broader efforts to mitigate militant threats in the region.

The initial operation carried out by Assam Rifles and the Manipur Police resulted in the capture of two cadres from the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive) in Imphal East. Concurrently, a similar effort led to the apprehension of four members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group) in Imphal West, where five pistols and other weaponry were seized.

Simultaneously, Assam Rifles collaborated with the CRPF and Manipur Police to dismantle two significant poppy plantations in Kangpokpi district, eradicating illicit crops that could yield approximately 30 kg of opium. These moves underscore the resolve of security forces to maintain peace and obstruct illegal drug trade activities.
