In a fierce political face-off, Congress MP from Jorhat, Gaurav Gogoi, launched a scathing attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing him of insecurity about his position. Gogoi's comments follow Sarma's allegations linking Gogoi's spouse to the Pakistani intelligence agency, ISI.

Gogoi alleged that Sarma has been under pressure due to corruption charges in the PWD department, and his haste to safeguard his position has led him to spread falsehoods. Meanwhile, Sarma raised questions concerning Gogoi's wife's foreign connections and her past work in Pakistan, linking it to influential figures like George Soros.

Adding to the tension, Sarma also pointed to suspicious events involving Gogoi's political actions, notably a meeting at the Pakistan High Commission. Gogoi dismissed these accusations, retorting that if his wife could be labeled an ISI agent, he should be called an R&AW agent. The verbal battle underscores the charged political atmosphere in Assam.
