India Aims to Elevate Traditional Sports at the 2036 Olympic Games

In a significant bid to promote Indian traditional sports on the global stage, a resolution was passed at the conclusion of the Khel Maha Kumbh, part of the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh.
This resolution aims to secure a place for these sports in the 2036 Olympic Games. The decision was cemented during a ceremony attended by Uttar Pradesh Sports Minister Girish Yadav.
The Khel Maha Kumbh not only served as a showcase of indigenous sports but also marked a commitment to enhance athletic infrastructure, provide financial support, and ensure job opportunities for winning athletes.
Over 800 young athletes participated, with discussions on strategies to internationalize Indian traditional sports.
Prominent figures like former Manipur CM N. Biren Singh and Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur endorsed the initiative.
The Khel Maha Kumbh also included a training program, enhancing coaches' skills and assessing athletes' fitness, further boosting the country's sports development efforts.
