In Pune, Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over the 27th Western Regional Council meeting, highlighting the cooperative sector's significance in India's development trajectory. Shah reiterated Prime Minister Modi's targets of a developed India by 2047 and a $5 trillion economy, stressing the cooperative sector's role in realizing these ambitions.

During his address, Shah lauded the efforts of the Union cooperative ministry, which operates with the motto 'Sahkar se Samriddhi'. He pointed out the ministry's transformative impact on the nation and called for embracing technology in this sector, reflecting the Janta Sahkari bank's operational philosophy.

Shah acknowledged Maharashtra's substantial contributions, noting that the state houses the largest number of urban cooperative banks in India. He announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party government plans to convert the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies' office into a regional office in Pune, aiming to enhance service accessibility.

Furthermore, Shah unveiled a significant initiative to assist cooperative banks, proposing the activation of an umbrella organization supported by a Rs 300 crore budget, ensuring comprehensive aid to these banks.
