Advantage Assam 2025: A Beacon of Economic Growth in Northeast India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Assam's rapid economic growth, noting its economy has doubled in six years. At the Advantage Assam event, PM emphasized the region's pivotal historical significance and future potential. The event aims to enhance investment and global connectivity for Assam's burgeoning industrial and infrastructure sectors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the swift economic advancement of Assam, revealing the state's economy has doubled in the past six years under the BJP administration. Speaking at the Advantage Assam event, he emphasized the historical and developmental significance of Eastern India and the Northeast as pivotal to India's growing development narrative.

Highlighting the region's historical importance, PM Modi stated, "The region is set to begin a new future today. Advantage Assam is our initiative to globalize Assam's potential. Historically, Eastern India has played a critical role in India's prosperity. As India strides towards growth, the Northeast will once again display its strength." He noted that Assam's economic status has notably improved within his tenure.

PM Modi elaborated that Assam's economy had swollen from approximately Rs 2.75 lakh crore in 2018 to Rs six lakh crore at present, reflecting the 'double effect' of a double-engine government. He stressed India's ascent in global trade and regional connectivity, affirming strengthening relations with various global regions, including East Asia and the Middle East.

On infrastructural development, the PM highlighted significant government investments. These are suggested as keystones for India's progress, where reforms, industry, and innovation play crucial roles. Investments in Assam's railway have also surged from an average of Rs 2,100 crore to Rs 10,000 crore annually.

The Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment & Infrastructure Summit 2025 focuses on boosting economic development in Assam, providing platforms for businesses and investors to explore emerging sectors. Prestigious attendees like PM Modi, key Union Ministers, and eminent industrialists including Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, underscore the event's prominence.
