Anticipated Decision: Court to Rule on MLA Amanatullah Khan's Bail

The Rouse Avenue court is set to announce its decision on the anticipatory bail plea of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan. Delhi Police accused him of obstructing public servants during an arrest operation. The court had earlier granted interim protection and sought clarity on related cases and accusations.

The Rouse Avenue court has reserved its decision on the anticipatory bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan, announcing that the order will be pronounced at 4 PM today. Special Judge Jitendra Singh made this decision after hearing clarifications from both the Delhi Police and the defense counsel.

Accusations against Khan stem from an incident on February 10, where he allegedly obstructed public servants trying to arrest Shavej Khan in Jamia Nagar. Shavej Khan had been declared a proclaimed offender. Although Amanatullah Khan was granted interim protection and prompted to join the investigation, Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Shrivastava noted that six investigations and five trials involving Amanatullah Khan remain ongoing.

The defense counsel contends that the High Court has stayed two trials involving Khan, with no convictions recorded so far. The Rouse Avenue court extended interim protection, asking Khan to join police investigations. The Delhi Police presented CCTV evidence and witness statements to the court, maintaining that Amanatullah Khan disrupted an attempt to arrest Shavej Khan, linked to an FIR from 2018.
