Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is poised to expand his cabinet on Wednesday, a strategic move ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The expansion will involve new ministers from his own Janata Dal (United) and coalition partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with four additional MLAs set to take on ministerial roles around 4 pm, according to reports from ANI.

The reshuffle will also see two MLAs from Nitish Kumar's party entering the cabinet. In parallel, the current Revenue Minister and BJP's state president, Dilip Jaiswal, has resigned from his ministerial position, citing adherence to the party's 'One Person, One Post' policy.

Jaiswal expressed gratitude to the central leadership for entrusting him with the party's state presidency, a role he assumed on January 18. His resignation is likely to lead to further restructuring within Nitish Kumar's government, with the anticipation of the elections later this year.

Commenting on the forthcoming cabinet expansion, Jaiswal remarked that it lies within the Chief Minister's discretion. Concurrently, Nitish Kumar's son, Nishant Kumar, has appealed to the Bihar populace to endorse his father's leadership at the polls.

He emphasized Nitish's developmental track record, urging voters to increase their support from the previous 43 seats, essentially to sustain the state's developmental trajectory. Nishant also called on JD(U) members to communicate the achievements of the past 19 years to the citizens of Bihar, reinforcing the party's electoral bid. (ANI)
