Rescue Efforts Intensify for Eight Trapped in SLBC Tunnel Collapse

In a determined rescue mission, authorities are working tirelessly to save eight workers trapped in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse. Jaypee Group founder Jaiprakash Gaur acknowledged the incident as part of the inherent risks associated with such complex projects while emphasizing unwavering commitment to see the endeavor through to completion.

Telangana Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with a team of rescue experts, has been on site coordinating efforts to reach those stranded. Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy conducted an on-ground assessment, highlighting the multi-agency response involving specialized Rat miners previously successful in operations like the Uttarkashi tunnel rescue.

The collapse, occurring four days after the resumption of construction at the SLBC tunnel, trapped eight workers, while others managed to escape. Advanced rescue equipment, including endoscopic and robotic cameras, has been deployed to expedite the operation, with additional support from the NDRF Dog Squad and the Indian Army’s Engineer Task Force to ensure a safe and effective evacuation process.
