Pune city police have intensified their search for Dattatray Ramdas Gade, the suspect in the recent rape incident at the Swargate bus depot, by releasing a poster urging public assistance. A case under section 64, 351(2) of 2023 is registered against Gade, with a cash reward of Rs. 1 lakh announced for credible information.
A total of 13 police teams, including eight from the Crime Branch and five from Swargate Police Station, have been deployed to apprehend the fugitive. Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil emphasized their relentless efforts, stating teams have even been dispatched outside the district to intensify the search.
The Maharashtra Transport Minister ordered a departmental inquiry against Swargate Bus Depot officials, following the February 25 incident where a 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped. Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Ramdas Kadam, denied any delay in the investigation, asserting prompt action by the authorities.
