Renowned actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan commended Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Friday for his unwavering opposition to the three-language policy proposed under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Haasan lauded Stalin for emerging as a stalwart in preserving Tamil Nadu's linguistic heritage.

Haasan, expressing his views on social media platform X, highlighted that Tamil Nadu's language and culture are under various external pressures. In this context, Stalin's resistance against the policy, which critics say aims to impose Hindi, drew praise for upholding the state's distinct cultural identity.

Earlier, CM Stalin underscored the potential of Artificial Intelligence in eliminating linguistic barriers, arguing that students should not be burdened with additional languages. This perspective clashed with the stance of Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, who asserted the need for NEP to expand opportunities for the youth.
