Asha workers, crucial in promoting institutional deliveries in the Bhalesa region of Doda district, are set to receive a Rs 1000 incentive hike starting March, as announced during a recent workshop. The District Asha coordinator revealed this upgrade amid growing recognition of their contributions to healthcare.

"The government's move to increase Asha workers' incentives is part of the Comprehensive Primary Health Care initiative. Their monthly assured incentive will rise from Rs 2000 to Rs 3000. NIS-certified Asha workers were awarded certificates, acknowledging their achievements," stated the coordinator.

An Asha worker remarked on the shift from home births to hospital deliveries, crediting their awareness efforts for this progress. The call for regular salaries continues as these frontline workers drive significant health improvements in rural areas.
