Pioneering Cross-Border Solar Project Powers Bhutan Through Juniper Green Energy

Juniper Green Energy has commissioned a 100-MW solar power project to supply electricity to Bhutan, marking the first cross-border energy trade under a bilateral framework. The project, located in Rajasthan, enables Bhutan to import power, particularly during winter months, enhancing regional energy security.

Juniper Green Energy announced the completion of a groundbreaking 100-MW solar power project intended to supply electricity to Bhutan. This initiative represents an important cross-border agreement, facilitating Bhutan's direct power imports during the crucial winter months.

Under the bilateral trade framework, this agreement marks a significant step in energy integration, providing half the generated power to Bhutan, thereby enhancing regional energy security. 'Our first cross-border energy trade is a landmark achievement,' said Naresh Mansukhani, CEO of Juniper Green Energy.

The solar project, based in Rajasthan, contributes to an overall generation capacity of 100 MW. Juniper Green Energy, part of the Singapore-based AT Group, is prominent in renewable energy, specializing in solar, wind, and hybrid projects since its inception in October 2018.
