Assam's New Growth Trajectory: Capital Expansion and Modernization

In a bold move to boost Assam's infrastructural and governance capabilities, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog announced plans for a new Assembly building and an MLA hostel in Dibrugarh. This Rs 200 crore project marks an ambitious step towards making Dibrugarh the state's second capital.
Complementing this, the state government has mapped out the construction of 17 Permanent Office Buildings in newly formed co-districts, as well as several educational institutions including a Medical College in Darrang, and Agriculture and Veterinary Colleges in Karbi Anglong. These projects are part of a larger vision to improve governance and educational infrastructure in Assam.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appreciated the comprehensive budget for setting Assam on a path to growth. Highlighting the record capital expenditure and high budget utilization, the CM pointed out innovations like a new satellite, a Proton Therapy Centre, and a dedicated OTT platform as steps towards economic advancement, Industry 4.0 readiness, and empowerment of youth and women.
