The Central government has announced the introduction of a new train service connecting Thrissur and Guruvayur, a move expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters and pilgrims to the Guruvayur temple in Kerala. BJP state chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for this development, emphasizing the positive impact on local transportation.

Praising the 'politics of performance' offered by the NDA, Chandrasekhar reiterated the BJP-led alliance's commitment to delivering meaningful development for Malayalees. He praised the Modi government for consistently implementing solutions that improve everyday life in Kerala, positioning the BJP as the party capable of fostering comprehensive development.

In a related development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also flagged off the country's first Vande Bharat sleeper train from Malda, West Bengal. This newly launched service on the Howrah-Guwahati (Kamakhya) route underscores significant advancements in the modernization efforts of Indian Railways and is part of broader initiatives targeting enhanced connectivity between eastern India and the Northeast.

Laying the foundation for further development, PM Modi is set to unveil multiple rail and road projects worth Rs 3,250 crore, set to bolster infrastructure in West Bengal and the North-Eastern region. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted these projects as transformative gifts to West Bengal, expected to spur the emergence of IT hubs and improve regional infrastructure.

Among the transformative infrastructure plans are the launch of more than a dozen new trains including Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express services. Notably, the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station is undergoing a significant transformation to become a world-class station with the inclusion of two new platforms. Following these initiatives, PM Modi will visit Assam to participate in a cultural event celebrating the rich heritage of the Bodo community known as 'Bagurumba Dwhou 2026'.
