Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi expressed concerns over alleged manipulation of voter lists, urging the government to facilitate a discussion in Parliament to address the matter. She highlighted the recurrence of such reports before elections as a threat to democracy.

Pushing for a dialogue, Rahul Gandhi echoed these sentiments, noting similar assertions raised by Trinamool Congress member Saugata Roy. Roy pointed out discrepancies in Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers observed across Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Haryana.

The issue culminated with a Trinamool Congress delegation meeting Election Commission officials in Kolkata, though the ECI clarified that identical EPIC numbers do not necessarily indicate duplicate or fake voters.
