In a significant crackdown on narcotics, Assam Police executed two operations leading to the seizure of 98,000 Yaba tablets and 38 kg of cannabis in Cachar district, valued at nearly Rs 30.30 crore. Four people were taken into custody, authorities confirmed on March 10.

Numal Mahatta, Superintendent of Police for Cachar district, revealed that credible intelligence prompted a raid in Chandrapur Part II, resulting in the arrest of Abdul Razak, 44, after uncovering Yaba tablets and heroin at his residence. The seized narcotics, including cash, have been valued at approximately Rs 30 crore in the black market.

In a separate operation at Krishnapur Part II, police intercepted an e-rickshaw carrying 38 kg of cannabis. Three more individuals, identified as Jamrul Hoque Laskar, Nazrul Islam Laskar, and Amjad Hussain Laskar, were apprehended. Both incidents suggest the substances originated from a neighboring state, with ongoing investigations underway.
