Ajay Seth Named New Finance Secretary
Ajay Seth, a senior bureaucrat and 1987-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Finance Secretary. The decision was made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet following a vacancy in the position due to recent changes in SEBI leadership.

Ajay Seth has been appointed as the new Finance Secretary, as confirmed by an official order on Monday. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his designation.
Seth, an IAS officer from the 1987 batch of the Karnataka cadre, currently serves as the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs.
This appointment comes after Tuhin Kant Pandey was named chairman of SEBI, creating a vacancy in the Finance Ministry. According to tradition, the senior-most secretary assumes the role of Finance Secretary.
