The Indian Army mourned the loss of Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, who was killed during ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir on May 7. Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi led the tributes, acknowledging the 'supreme sacrifice' made by the soldier.
In a statement, the army extended its support to civilians caught in the crossfire. 'The Indian Army stands in solidarity with the innocent civilians affected by the indiscriminate artillery shelling by the adversary in Poonch,' it read. The tragedy struck Kumar's family and village deeply, leaving a heartbroken wife, two children, parents, and siblings.
Dinesh Kumar's brother, Kapil, shared the distressing moments leading up to the confirmation of his death. Despite initial miscommunications regarding Kumar's condition, the loss reverberated across social media, with the White Knight Corps paying tribute to his brave service on platform X, highlighting his courage and dedication.
