Nation Mourns as Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar Laid to Rest with Military Honours

Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, a valiant soldier of the Indian Army, was honored with a solemn military funeral in his hometown following his tragic death during a ceasefire violation along the Line of Control. Government officials and army personnel paid tribute to his ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

In a somber ceremony, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, who was killed in a ceasefire violation by the Pakistani Army, was laid to rest with full military honours in his native village, Mohammadpur, in Haryana's Palwal district on Thursday. He lost his life on May 7, 2025, amid unprovoked firing along the Line of Control.

The funeral attracted family members, residents, and officials from the armed forces and civil administration, all gathering to bid farewell to the fallen soldier. The military honoured Kumar's sacrifice with a gun salute, paying respect to his service.

Haryana Cabinet Minister Rajesh Nagar expressed solidarity with the army and the family. "The entire nation is proud of its military and will stand by them. We salute the bravery of Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar," he stated. Minister Gaurav Gautam reiterated that the nation reveres Kumar for his ultimate sacrifice.

The army, led by Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, offered its condolences, stating, "We salute Lance Naik Kumar's supreme sacrifice during ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army." The army expressed solidarity with civilians affected by the shelling, vowing to counter adversarial forces with decisive actions.

The village bid farewell to Kumar amidst emotional scenes of his grieving wife, parents, and kin gathered to honour his courage. His brother, Kapil, recounted the tragic sequence of events leading to Kumar's death during shelling by Pakistan, marking a hero's painful departure from this world.

The White Knight Corps confirmed the grievous loss on social media, acknowledging the valor of Lance Naik Kumar, who laid down his life in the line of duty, continuing a legacy of bravery and dedication upheld by the Indian Army.
