Security Scare at Agartala Station: Unattended Bags Unearth Cache of Firearms

An alert was triggered at Agartala Railway Station after train escorts found unattended backpacks with eight pistols and sixteen magazines aboard the Tripura Sundari Express. Security has been heightened and authorities are investigating the origins and destination of the firearms, treating the incident as a serious threat.

A security scare erupted at Agartala Railway Station on Thursday when two unattended backpacks were discovered aboard the Tripura Sundari Express, which had arrived from Firozpur.

Railway escorts found the bags shortly after the train reached its final destination, prompting an immediate notification to the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF).

Upon inspection, authorities revealed that the bags contained a total of eight pistols and sixteen magazines. Security measures have been intensified, and a forensic team has been deployed to gather evidence while CCTV footage is under review.

Assistant Commandant of RPF Agartala, BK Sinha, stated that the incident is under serious investigation with central agencies expected to assist.

The GRP has registered a case, recognizing the potential threat to public safety. Further details are awaited.
