The bodies of a teenage boy and girl, believed to be in a romantic relationship, were discovered hanging from a banyan tree near a village, police reported Thursday.

Residents found the bodies in a forest close to Baijnath village, under the jurisdiction of the Rampur Barkonia police station, authorities stated.

Additional Superintendent of Police Tribhuvan Nath Tripathi acknowledged the incident late Thursday evening, noting that the minors' love and potential marital plans were hindered by their age. While initial investigations suggest a suicide pact, other possibilities remain under scrutiny, and a post-mortem will determine the exact cause of death.
