A delegation of mining experts from Chile is visiting multiple units of India's state-run Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) over the next three weeks. The visit aims to assess mining and operational facets while exploring opportunities for value addition and knowledge exchange.

The move follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between HCL and Chile's CODELCO, signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font in April. Under this pact, the two countries focus on exchanging knowledge and best practices to enhance exploration, mining, mineral beneficiation, employee training, and capacity building.

Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy highlighted the significance of partnerships with global leaders like Chile in vital minerals, including copper and lithium, emphasizing their role in India's industrial growth and sustainable energy transition. Chile's leadership in copper and lithium production presents substantial opportunities for Indian enterprises to secure access to critical minerals through new and existing mining projects.
