Oil Majors Pull Staff Amid Rising Middle East Tensions
Eni, BP, and Total Energies have evacuated foreign staff from Iraqi oilfields amid regional tensions. Despite this, operations continue with exports steady at 3.32 million barrels per day. The move follows warnings from Iranian-aligned groups about potential attacks on U.S. troops if conflicts escalate.
Eni, BP, and Total Energies have evacuated some of their foreign personnel from Iraqi oilfields, according to a statement from Iraq's state-run Basra Oil Company. The evacuation is a precautionary measure amid escalating regional tensions.
Despite the withdrawal of foreign staff, operations in southern Iraq continue unaffected, maintaining a steady export rate of 3.32 million barrels per day. This steady output provides some relief to global markets concerned about disruptions in oil supply due to the instability in the region.
The evacuation comes in the wake of rising hostilities linked to U.S. actions against Iranian nuclear sites and conflicts between Israel and Iran. Ayatollah-aligned Iraqi group Kataib Hezbollah has issued warnings of potential attacks on U.S. forces if tensions escalate further.
