The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised an orange alert for Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur, and Shimla districts in Himachal Pradesh, projecting heavy to very heavy rainfall at discrete locations. This alert follows steady monsoon activity, with widespread showers affecting most of the state over the past day.

Sandeep Kumar Sharma, Senior Scientist at IMD's Shimla Meteorological Centre, noted varying rainfall intensities with isolated districts experiencing heavy showers. "Pandoh in Mandi district logged the highest rainfall at 130 mm, with Mandi town at 120 mm, Sunni at 113 mm, and Palampur at 80 mm," Sharma remarked, cautioning about the persistence of intense rainfall.

Chamba, Solan, and Kullu have been issued a yellow alert, suggesting potential heavy rainfall in parts. The IMD forecasts a slight decrease in rainfall intensity starting July 1 but anticipates continued intermittent showers across various regions until July 6. The IMD has urged caution, particularly in landslide and flood-prone areas.
