Tensions in Yavat village, Pune district, have been quelled following unrest sparked by an allegedly objectionable social media post, police confirmed. Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill reported that villagers gathered in protest, with some attempting vandalism, but no injuries occurred. Quick police intervention ensured the situation remained peaceful.

Sandeep Singh Gill detailed the sequence of events to ANI, explaining that a young local had posted a controversial status on WhatsApp/Facebook, which led to his detainment and subsequent police action. As the post went viral, prior tensions in the village exacerbated the situation, causing villagers to take to the streets. Proactive policing helped defuse potential violence, with peace talks initiated among community representatives.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called for public calm and cooperation following the communal flare-up. He warned that any breach of law would invoke strict police response. Fadnavis assured that external influences fueled the tensions, but peace had been restored swiftly through community discussions and strategic law enforcement measures.
