The vital Gangotri National Highway near Ganganani-Limchagad is set for imminent reopening, as crews work tirelessly following a devastating series of flash floods and mudslides in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi. Officials confirm the relocation work on key areas like Songad and Dabrani is accelerating.
In a recent statement, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted the progress, stating over 1,000 individuals, including pilgrims stranded by the disaster, have been safely evacuated. Efforts include installing a Bailey bridge near Lachi Gad for road reconstruction towards Harsil, with full operational status expected soon.
The state government has initiated a comprehensive relief strategy, including a six-month ration supply to affected families and forming a task force led by the Revenue Secretary to assess rehabilitation. CM Dhami, in discussions with the state's Governor, emphasized the relief operations' effectiveness and future plans to ensure long-term recovery.
