Heavy rains and floods have severely impacted Maharashtra's Kharif crops, with 20.12 lakh hectares damaged, as announced by Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharne. The minister has pledged assistance to farmers who are grappling with significant losses.
During his visit to Washim and Nanded districts, Bharne reviewed the devastation and revealed that these areas, along with several others including Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Akola, faced severe crop damage. The affected crops include soybean, corn, cotton, and various fruit crops.
Bharne emphasized the government's plan to provide immediate aid, stating that officials from revenue and agriculture departments are assessing the loss. Notably, Washim and Nanded districts saw extensive damage, affecting 4.11 lakh hectares and causing a flood-like situation in 350 villages, leading to both agricultural and human loss.
