During the Police Commemoration Day held in Pune, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar solemnly honored police personnel who have sacrificed their lives in service. Expressing deep gratitude on X, Pawar reflected on their unwavering dedication, which he noted would forever be remembered and cherished by the nation.

Police forces across India observe October 21 as Commemoration Day, a tradition dating back to a tragic incident in 1959 when ten brave policemen were killed by the Chinese Army at Ladakh's Hot Springs. This annual observance, decided by the 1962 DGsP/IGsP Conference, pays homage to their ultimate sacrifice.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared their tributes, with Modi highlighting the courage of police personnel on this solemn day. Singh, attending in Delhi, emphasized the synergy between army and police in ensuring national security, noting that balancing security is vital as India strides towards 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
