Delhi Battles Smog with Innovative Water Misting Systems

Delhi's Public Works Department has initiated a project to install automatic water misting systems along city roads to combat dust-related air pollution. With installations on Church Road and earlier on Rani Jhansi Road, this move aims to suppress dust and improve air quality, following directives from city officials.

In response to Delhi's ongoing smog issues, the Public Works Department is launching its second automatic water misting system project on city roads, officials announced on Friday.

The endeavor is part of efforts to mitigate dust levels, a significant factor in air pollution. By spraying fine water mist along busy streets, the initiative seeks to replicate successful implementations by the New Delhi Municipal Council and the Delhi Development Authority in their areas.

The latest project will see installations along Church Road in Sector 1, RK Puram, following an earlier deployment on Rani Jhansi Road. Costing Rs 2.5 crore, the system features misting nozzles on streetlight poles, powered by a 2,000-litre-per-day RO unit, and includes security measures. Scheduled shifts for operation and oversight align with directives to improve air quality, utilizing similar systems already in place on notable roads like Lodhi Road.
