In a significant move towards enhancing national security, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh highlighted the progress of 'Mission Sudarshan Chakra'. Announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day address, the mission aims to bolster India's air defence with cutting-edge technology, ensuring comprehensive protection for critical infrastructure and population centres within a feasible timeline.

Speaking at the National Security Summit hosted by ANI, Singh emphasized the integration of both defensive and offensive capabilities under this initiative. Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit underscored the armed forces' role in countering cross-border threats, while also acknowledging the need for individual installations to manage domestic drone threats independently.

Industry leaders like Arun T Ramchandani of L&T are closely monitoring global advancements in anti-drone technology, suggesting a growing interest in precision-engineered defences. Mission Sudarshan Chakra is set to blend Make in India projects with imports and IDDM programmes, aiming for a fully funded security shield by 2035, focusing on future warfare scenarios.
