Air Marshal Yalla Umesh officially assumed command of the Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force on December 1, marking his new role as the 39th Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief. This information was confirmed by a recent press release.

Air Marshal Umesh, an accomplished aeronautical engineer with a Doctorate in Management, has a diverse academic background including postgraduate degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management. His career in the IAF has been noteworthy, having held significant posts such as Assistant Chief of the Air Staff Engineering and Director General (Aircraft) at Air Headquarters.

The Maintenance Command oversees the crucial functions of repair and overhaul at Base Repair Depots, Equipment Depots, and other units. Air Marshal Umesh takes over from Air Marshal Vijay Kumar Garg, who retired after nearly four decades of committed service to the IAF and the nation.
