In a bid to position itself as a 'green energy hub' by 2036, Odisha is intensifying efforts to bolster its renewable energy supply chain. This was echoed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during the inauguration of the Global Energy Leaders' Summit 2025 in Puri.

Majhi highlighted the importance of transitioning from fossil fuels and emphasized investments in the energy sector to guarantee continuous electricity access, particularly in rural areas. He called upon other states to focus on energy production and conservation as a key strategy for supporting self-reliance and youth empowerment.

The summit, attended by top officials and global experts, served as an avenue to establish pathways for sustainable energy. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair contributed virtually, stressing the need for persistent multi-level governmental efforts in successful energy transitions—central aims of the GELS 2025 platform.
