BJP MP Iranna Kadadi has charged the Karnataka government with negligence towards farmers, citing the absence of procurement centres as a cause of economic turmoil and suicides in the state. He raised these concerns during Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha.

The MP pointed out that despite the Centre's fixation of a minimum support price for 23 crops, the state's failure to establish procurement centres has left farmers vulnerable as prices plummet below MSP.

Kadadi also highlighted that during Karnataka's kharif season, extreme weather conditions have damaged 10 lakh hectares of crops, exacerbating farmers' financial hardships. He calls for central intervention to aid farmers who are forced to sell their produce at a loss.
